Lillian Maldonado French, Ed.D.

Dr. Lillian Maldonado French served as a Superintendent for over 17 years; as Director of Certificated Personnel; Director of Curriculum and Staff Development; and Principal of an elementary school, among other teaching positions. Dr. French’s leadership philosophy emphasizes consensus-building and collaboration. She has implemented a variety of programs for teachers, classified staff, and community members, including the California Labor-Management Initiative, which promotes mutually supportive working environments. Dr. French implemented a nationally-recognized engagement program which partnered with families, principals, teachers, and community members to link family engagement to student achievement.

Dr. French was named Superintendent of the Year by the Los Angeles County Office of Education in 2018, and was also awarded the State Super Hero Award by the Summer Matters Campaign, among other achievements and titles she has held. She has been active in several community and civic endeavors, some of which include service as a member of Rio Hondo Community College President’s Advisory Committee; Whittier College Title VII Planning Committee; and the Cradle to College and Career Roadmap providing academic guidance to students from pre-school through high school.

Dr. French is a co-author of the book, Leading Legends, Female Superintendents Breaking Barriers with Purpose and Power and has served as an adjunct professor at Loyola University.

Dr. French holds a doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership from Brandman University, a Master of Science degree in Educational Administration from California State University, Fullerton, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics from University of California, Irvine.
