Dr. Geoffrey Yantz retired as Superintendent of the South Pasadena Unified School District in 2025, culminating a distinguished career in public education spanning 33 years. His extensive administrative experience also includes serving as deputy superintendent, assistant superintendent, principal, and classroom teacher.

Over his 18 years as superintendent in two school districts, he demonstrated visionary leadership in all aspects of the position, with expertise in developing board relations and executive support leading to long-term organizational sustainability. Dr. Yantz is a strategically oriented leader who possesses a keen ability to achieve results while engaging educational partners. Curricular examples include the development of robust curriculum pathways and K-8 Spanish and Mandarin Dual Immersion Programs, earning all schools in the district National Blue Ribbon and California Distinguished School recognition. Furthermore, Dr. Yantz’s experience in voter-approved initiatives includes two Parcel Tax measures with nearly 85 percent voter approval and two General Obligation Bond measures.

Dr. Yantz was named PTA District Administrator of the Year and received PTA Honorary Service Awards over the years in South Pasadena. While in El Segundo, he received the Chamber of Commerce Dave Jones Award, the El Segundo USD Quality Environmental Award, multiple PTA service awards, and ACSA’s Regional XIV Principal of the Year award.

 

Dr. Yantz received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and his master of arts degree in curriculum from California State University, Dominguez Hills. He received his master of science degree in administration, as well as his doctoral degree in educational technology from Pepperdine University.
