Edward Knudson has 36 years of management experience, which includes 24 years in higher education, 10 years in the hospitality industry, with seven years as a property general manager.  He proudly served four years in the United States Army as a NCO and is a Vietnam Era Veteran.

Mr. Knudson studied general business at the University of Idaho.  He earned his bachelor of science in business administration from Oregon State University and his master’s degree in business administration also from Oregon State University.

Mr. Knudson’s wide breadth of experience encompasses budget planning; development and administration in both public and private sectors; managing in difficult fiscal climates; collective bargaining experience for both management and labor; grievance and conflict resolution experience; curriculum design and reform experience; experience with educational master planning; facilities planning, renovation, and project management; economic and workforce development program creation and oversight; and service as an accreditation liaison officer.

He is President Emeritus of Antelope Valley College (AVC).  He served from 2013 to 2022 as Superintendent/President.  During his tenure, AVC was one of 15 California community colleges granted the authority to confer baccalaureate degrees.  Also during Mr. Knudson’s tenure, student completion rates were doubled in six years; AVC was debt free; and its credit rating was raised by both Moody’s and Standard and Poor’s to AA and A.

He was Executive Vice-President at Moorpark College where he served as chief instructional officer, chief student services officer, and accreditation liaison officer.  Mr. Knudson was also responsible for all instructional and student service operations.

Mr. Knudson also served as Vice-President, Academic Affairs, at Bakersfield College, where he oversaw 250 full-time faculty, 400 adjunct faculty, and 300 classified staff in serving over 18,000 students per semester.

Mr. Knudson served as a faculty member for various universities and serves, or has served, on various professional and community associations and boards, such as Bakersfield Vision 20/20 Education Taskforce; CCLC Advisory Committee on Legislation; Redevelopment Oversight Board, Los Angeles County; and Edwards Air Force Base Civilian Military Board of Directors.
