Dr. Stephen McCray is an executive coach, leadership consultant, author, and national and international keynote speaker working with schools, businesses, and non-profit leaders to achieve their equity mission of creating results-driven, high-impact, synergistic work communities and organizations. An interpersonal communications specialist, Dr. McCray works with leaders at all levels, from superintendents and school boards to principals and frontline supervisors, on critical conversations, sustainable solutions, and building inclusive, cohesive, high-performing work cultures.

Dr. McCray earned his B.A. in political science from University of California, Santa Barbara; his Master of Education from University of California, Los Angeles; and his Doctor of Education at Loyola Marymount University.
​
Dr. McCray’s 30-year professional career has included, among other professional pursuits, elementary school principal; Executive Field Consultant for the California Department of Education; Administrative Field Supervisor for Loyola Marymount University; Executive Director of School and Community Relations for the Inglewood Unified School District; and Director of Instructional Services for a charter organization in Los Angeles.

His publications include Dynamic Equity: Lead Your Team Successfully through Extraordinary Racial Change and Children are the Messengers: A Case Study of Academic Success Through the Voices of High-Achieving Low-Income Elementary Students. Dr. McCray had the honor of being named by Teacher Magazine as “one of the fifty best minds in education.”

Dr. McCray’s areas of expertise include executive coaching and leadership consulting; win-win communication policies, practices, and procedures; high stakes decision making; conflict resolution and crucial conversations; leadership development and mentorship; classified and certificated management; relational leadership; EQ; and performance management. Fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese, Dr. McCray supports leaders in all things diversity, workplace relations, and equity dynamics in leadership.
