Dr. Trish Landau has many years of experience in the field of human resources and retired as Director, Human Resources, Classified, from Huntington Beach Union High School District. Dr. Landau has extensive experience in personnel management, having worked in both the private industry and public schools. She has served in management positions in elementary, high school, and community college districts in California and has been an HR consultant throughout her career.
Dr. Landau’s experience includes conducting workshops in communication, organization of personnel departments, classified layoff procedures, selection procedures, and supervision of employees. She taught for many years in the ACSA Personnel Academy, ACSA Personnel Institute, and CASBO Business Academy. She is an Honorary Life Member of the California Personnel Commissioners Association and current member of ACSA, CASBO, and IPMA.
Recent consultant services include individual coaching for new assistant superintendents and directors who have responsibility for classified personnel functions. A variety of topics are covered, such as recruitment, selection, contract administration, working with unions, employee/employer issues, ADA, supervision of employees, discipline process, and relationships with management, the Board of Trustees, and Personnel Commissions. She also reviews and recommends decisions on appeals of classification issues where the union and management have different views. She provides phone support on a variety of HR issues.
Following undergraduate study at Shepherd College, West Virginia, she received her master’s degree in communications from University of Maryland and a doctoral degree in institutional management from Pepperdine University, CA.
